Graduate Student

Jen joined the History of Art and Architecture Department in 2010 with a background in architecture and urban studies.  Her research focuses on the Museum of French Monuments (1795-1816) and the role of architectural space as public spectacle and pedagogical tool in early nineteenth-century France.  Broader issues reveal the complex relationship of temporality, physiognomy, and experience in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century architecture.  Jen is also a practicing architect who has worked on a variety of built projects, including the Peter B. Lewis Center and Woodhill Homes in Cleveland, Ohio.  She has published on the history of public housing in Depression-era Cleveland.  For five of the last six years, she has helped lead the annual architectural studies field trip, an opportunity for architecture students to visit internationally recognized architectural sites while exploring complex urban issues in cities like Detroit, Philadelphia, Cleveland, and New Haven.
