Position Available: Visiting Lecturer in Architectural Studies Program, Department of History of Art and Architecture, University of Pittsburgh

The Architectural Studies program at the University of Pittsburgh seeks to fill a full-time NTS (Non Tenure Stream), non-renewable Visiting Lecturer position in Architectural Studies effective for the 2016-17 academic year.  Architectural Studies is a dynamic, highly successful undergraduate program that places its students in top schools of architecture for graduate study each year.  Architectural Studies and our PhD program in the history of architecture are also integral to the innovative Constellations that organize graduate and undergraduate research and teaching in our department: http://www.haa.pitt.edu/research/constellations.

The successful candidate for this open position will play an important role in teaching required courses for Architectural Studies majors at various levels and will act as an adviser for students applying to M.Arch. programs.  Duties will include teaching 3 courses (9 credits) per term or the equivalent in advising and administrative activities.  Specifically, this will entail teaching one or more sections each term of the gateway course into the Architectural Studies major, Approaches to the Built Environment; and teaching courses as needed in architectural history and theory and/or design, according to the successful candidate’s qualifications.  Additional duties may include teaching a professionalization seminar for our Architectural Studies majors, and assisting with our internship and fieldtrip programs.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in architectural history and experience teaching at the post-secondary level. A professional degree in architecture (B.Arch. or M.Arch.) is desirable but not mandatory. Applications – including a c.v., two letters of recommendation, and a statement outlining past teaching experience and future career goals – should be sent to Corrin Trombley (cot12@pitt.edu) by May 20, 2016.  The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity Employer.  Women and members of minority groups under-represented in academia are especially encouraged to apply.
